I bought it from an estate auction about 25 years ago. It is medium brown, soft leather/suede for the hat part.  Some kind of dark brown leather (matte to satin in shine) for the bill and inside band. The rifle pin is missing a piece on the right side. The pin is held on by what looks like a metal staple (not a common day looking "staple"). Don't have any history on it.
